About me:

My name is Mahder Johnson. I was born in Lalibela, Ethiopia, but grew up in Seattle, Washington. Currently, I am a Freshman at Howard University within the College of Arts and Sciences. I am a Biology major looking to take on a double minor in Chemistry and Psychology. My ultimate goal is to become a pediatric neurologist. 

So why have i taken this interest in Medicine? To be honest i was never very interested in mathematics or science throughout my time in middle school. I had always thought science was only about the microbiology aspect of the world as it never seemed to keep my interest. In my Sophomore year of High School i took psychology. This class shifted my whole perspective of science and made me realize how diverse the area of study really is. My journey toward pediatric neurology began with a deep interest in the brain and how it affects behavior and development, particularly in children. This passion for understanding the human mind and helping young patients has driven my academic choices and career aspirations. Through this website and my portfolio, I will share my data from my biology labs in my first year spent at Howard University. I will aslo share some activities about myself outside of science. These different artifacts with show who i am as a person as well as my progress and growth as a student in the sciences. I hope you can reflect on my my journey from a student who had little interest in the sciences to one who had chosen a career and passion in the same field. As I continue my education and work towards becoming a pediatric neurologist, I am committed to my growth as a Pre-Med and individual.
